Years ago I had some amazing opportunities come my way. Unfortunately I was too busy to even notice them. I was going to School and working two to three jobs to pay my way through. I thought that it was so important to finish college as fast as possible; I did not consider that I would be loosing out on some amazing experiences because I was in too much of a hurry.
Now seven years later; one of those opportunities has reappeared. Perhaps all those years ago I would not have appreciated the experience nearly as much as I will now that I am pursuing my writing career. Then again maybe that is just something that I have to tell myself since I could have completely missed out on a great experience.
So I get to mark one more thing off of my bucket list; and have an experience I should have slowed down and enjoyed years ago; on November 1st.
It might not live up to everything that I hope; or it could live up to everything I have imagined it will be. Either way it is the perfect way to start November. It might even be the inspiration I need to propel me through NaNoWriMo. No matter what happens; I feel like things might finally start moving in the right direction for me as a writer.
I like this image; and it does not really captivate what I have written; yet in a way it does. The look on her face and the letter in her hand makes me feel as if she too regretted a choice that she had made; but she never got to go back, she never got a second chance.
I feel like this is my second chance. Perhaps now that I am older and have more experience that this will mean more then it would have all those years ago. Needless to say November is going to be my month. I will enjoy this day; perhaps even get more inspiration for my own stories. Then I will begin my journey into my novel. As well as finalizing everything for the release of Polarbe's Hibernation. If you do not hear much from me this month; it is only because I have disappeared within my novel.... see you all on the other side. - K A Petentler
I have been planning to participate in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) for a couple of years now; but life has somehow gotten in my way. Last year on November 1st I tried to come up with a brilliant Idea and was stuck in the idea phase. The story and the inspiration never came.
This year I seem to have the opposite problem. I have a lot of ideas floating around in my head. Peaking my creativity. I am so excited about participating this year; I actually can not seem to narrow it down to just one. (I know that it is a good problem to have.) Eventually I will probably write all three; just not right now.
I thought it would be fun to leave it up to the reader. I would like to know which story or concept you would be interested in reading. Obviously the deadline for you to vote will be November 1, 2014. The only thing I ask is that you only pick one to vote on. I will not be able to go into to many details.
1) A Prom Story 2) An Imprint (fairytale) 3) Past/Present Story

Please help me decide which story "concept" sounds the most interesting; which one would you read?
Imprint: v. to stay in your mind or memory.
I am back to writing; which is what is in my heart. It is the only true thing I find satisfying. It is also the only thing that relieves stress and relaxes me. There is just something about the way the characters, scenes and plots written down on the page; imprinted for the rest of time on a piece of paper that transports me.
This is honestly what my stories are. They are imprinted in my mind; written on my soul. I can close my eyes and watch each story unfold. As I begin to share my stories with you I hope that you will feel the same; and always remember them not as stories or fairy tales; but as imprints - K A Petentler
Some one once told me that my mind works so differently then any one else, that it would be impossible for someone to write my stories or concepts; before I do. It had been meant as a back handed remark; however, I take it as a compliment. It is also one of the reasons I enjoy writing.
I write to tell stories. I write the books that I wish I could read; but don't exist. I am working on a collection of stories: Imprints. I write in a different way which does not quite fit the fairytale genre; nor does it quite fit into the expected. As I wrote above; they are imprinted into my mind so I thought it would be more fitting to call them that; then anything else.
The easiest way to explain it; I do not write happily ever after's. Not to say that my stories never have a happy ending; just that I do not write for the happy ending. I also do not write for the satisfaction of a reader. (I feel like this needs to be explained: movies and books too often create the ending readers want to read; how the reader wants the characters to end up. "leaving the reader satisfied"; to me this makes life and books rather predictable; and leaves me, as a reader wanting more.)
I write to leave an Impression!

Now for a little bit more information about this book:
I found an interesting fact about polar bears. They only hibernate when they are pregnant, which was the inspiration for this children's book.
Polarbe's Hibernation is a story about friendship between a polar bear named Polarbe and a snow leopard named Purla. It is also about how it feels to be afraid of the dark and having the courage to face the monsters within the shadows.
I hope that everyone enjoys our debut children's book.

I am a fairytale writer of children's books and young adult novels. At the moment I have self published through my own publishing company. Remnants Publishing. Unmasked is my first long short fairytale. Polarbe's Hibernation is our children's book. And there is plenty more on the way.
