Who is your favorite Character? Please leave a comment below. and keep the conversation going.
I know it is a hard question so If you have more then one feel free to submit them all.
As a writer it is extremely hard not to be prejudice towards the Characters you create. It is like giving birth to a child; except you actually get a say in who they are and who they will become (unfortunately children are not that easy). This is not to say I do not have favorite characters, books and movies. I am just saying that as an investor and friend to my characters as I develop them, it is hard not to develop favoritism towards a character. In some aspects it helps a writer continue working on a project if they are completely invested in their character.
My favorite Character I have had a chance to develop is a young girl named Airmentha. She lives during the reign of the Greek Gods. Without giving too much away; Her life interconnects with each of the Gods and influences all of the myths that we know today. I am sorry that I did not elaborate more on my character. I am still in the editing phases of my book and have been trying to get her stories published. I am still a little skeptical when it comes to revealing too much about my stories. I will give sneak peeks; as for my Character; she is quite unique and I am unwilling to let someone steal her. She is my Mickey Mouse. (Disney was not willing to part with Mickey Mouse even though someone wanted to buy him and he had not money at the time.)
One of my favorite Characters that I did not write is Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine (from the book, not the movie). If I had too choose a favorite character from a television series It would be a tie between Max by James Cameron in Dark Angel and Veronica Mars in her namesake. I honestly can not list all of my favorite characters in movies, mostly because there are too many to name here.
I just thought that revealing some of these things might help you get a visual of who I am and what has influenced me as a writer. Each Friday I will try to reveal those things that influence me as a writer. I hope that all of you will feel free to reveal who your favorite characters are, no matter if they are you created or someone else did.
In the coming months I will try to reveal more of my favorites and those things that influence me as a writer. I hope all of you will feel free to do the same. If you have any questions feel free to ask them and I will try to answer them to the best of my ability. I might not be published but I have been writing and learning things along the way. I am also not an amateur when it comes to rejections. Then again neither are most Authors.
P.S. I Love Fairytales, the old versions and retelling of them. The person who most inspires me is Walt Disney. (When I was a kid I wanted to be Walt Disney when I grew up, sometimes I still do.) The last book series I read was the lunar chronicles by Marissa Meyers. A little known book that has influenced me and my writing a lot is a book called The Effects of Light by Miranda Beverly-Whitmore. I read it when I was a teenager and it changed my outlook on art and how I perceive things. I am a girl so I obviously like love stories, but I also really like books and movies that make me think at the end. Like in the Illusionist and Shutter Island.

Andrea Badger has become my Illustrator. She Is a wonderful artist and friend. We are both really excited about our children's book and it is coming along nicely. We thought that all of you would enjoy a sneak peek at some of her earlier sketches for my first children's book. If you would like to contact Andrea Badger to do art work please email her at firstname.lastname@example.org
I would like to welcome everyone to my new site. If you read my old blog; www.frayedcorner.blogspot.com I am glad you found me. I would also like to apologize to all of those people that followed this blog, but it no longer provided me with the blogging experience that I wanted. I felt it becoming less and less professional; filled with random rants and unedited material.
I liked my blog before; I just thought it was time to move up in the professional world of blogging. (gawk. I can't believe how far blogging has come in the past years.) Now I am tossing my hat into the ring. You can not compete in the world of writing if you are unwilling to take chances. So here I am world. I am going to put my work out there for the world to read, and they will decide my fate. Not agents and publishers. The readers are who I want to reach. It is time that I stop waiting for someone to come along and take a chance on my writing.
I guess all of you are wondering who I am. I am still working on that. For now all I can tell you is that I am a dreamer. I am a storyteller. I am a twenty-seven year old mother of one.
I am inspired by everything, but mostly art. It doesn't matter if it is old artwork, paintings or photography... they can all inspire a story; if you are willing to listen. I am also inspired by music, movies, television and books. If I watch a bad movie or read a bad book then I try to rewrite it; see if I can somehow make it better (it is a good exercise for new writers).
I have an e-book on amazon.com. It is an amateur book with two miniature fairytale stories inspired by Hans Christian Anderson's the little match girl. It is called Caged Dreams: Sinister Fairytales.
I have also written a children's book which is being illustrated by a friend; called Polarbe's Hibernation. I also have a Mythology series called Athanatos which on the editing block.
At the moment I am working on a novel called The Kingdom of Jade; which is abut high school and missing out on things that are right in front of you.
I hope that helps you get a better Idea of who I am. Please check out the rest of the website; if you are interested in what I have to say please subscribe to this blog. I will try to keep everything updated as often as possible.
