When looking at the pictures above you are probably wondering why I put these together. Especially since two are Disney fan art and the others have to do with Mythology. All of these images have served as the initial inspiration for a story of mine. Each of which later translated into a larger idea; beyond even what I could have dreamed it would.
That idea triggered other ideas and soon I took my love for Mythology and Fairytales and merged them together. After a couple of months of research and a month of constant writing from dawn until dusk for a month; a book series was outlined and the first book written: Athanatos.
Now; four years later; Athanatos, the first book in the series is in it's final stage of editing! That is what I am going to be doing; starting October 1, 2014. I will be emerged in Greek Mythology for the entire month of October. Once this month is over I will have something unique and amazing to send out into the world to get published. (Perhaps you will see Polarbe's Hibernation out first.)
I have an agent I really want in my sights (as unrealistic as that is...) and I plan on participating in the NaNoWrMo (National Novel Writing Month) this November. Although I have most of the second book completed and the other books in the series all outlined and first drafts written; I will wait for feedback before I finalize those books.
I have always believed that The Greek Myths were the original fairytale stories; just one example of that is Hades and Persephone. (Beauty and the Beast). There are many more examples of this. I love finding them and exploring them in my own writing.
I wanted to share a little tidbit I wrote; it is not a completed story; it is just something I wrote when I first got inspired.
Hades and Persephone Once upon a time there was a man He lived in a place absent of heat and passion In a lonely place. One that was created for him and his solace. A place where imagination was destroyed And fear ruled over all.
Once upon a time a window from above opened. A girl feel into the young mans world. At first they avoided each other. She was afraid and he was shy. She was pretty and always wore decayed flowers in her red hair. First they glanced; then they turned His heart was still too dark; and hers was too light.
Once upon a time there was a man mesmerized by a beautiful visitor. He loved the way she floated around weightless. He loved the way her smile was a challenge he gladly accepted. But he was a shadow. She was a light. He kept trying to remind himself; that he was to powerful for such emotions.
She was just too tempting. He was afraid. He kissed her for the first time while she slept. Weeks later they still hadn't talked. Not to long after she came to him and let him touch her. His love grew, a distraction he could not afford. Her love grew, a fate much worse. For she was never meant to live in the dark.
